About scanning a Later card
What Later is
Later is a way to leave someone a message that only opens after a timer — a QR code printed on a card, not an app. There is nothing to install and nothing to sign in to.
What a card can and cannot do
Scanning a Later card opens a page at later.cards that either counts down to when the message unlocks, or shows the message once the wait is over. That is all it does. It cannot install anything on your device, ask you to create an account, or take you anywhere other than later.cards.
Later never asks for passwords, payments, or app installs
A genuine Later card never asks a reader for a password, payment details, or to install an app. If a page claiming to be a Later card asks for any of those, it is not really Later — close it and do not enter anything.
How to report a card
Every card page has a "Report this card" link, at /c/<its address>/report — for example later.cards/c/abc123/report. Use it if a message looks wrong, unsafe, or like it is trying to trick you.
How to check the domain
Look at your browser's address bar. A genuine Later card always opens at later.cards. If it says anything else, it is not a Later card, no matter what it looks like.
